BEDCHAIRS… RE-IMAGINED! The Trakker Oval Levelite headlines a strong summer line-up for the bivvy-maker behemoth!

As if spring wasn’t exciting enough, we get Trakker dropping a whole load of goodies to make it almost unbearable! Okay, so we all know that when it comes to bivvies, Trakker is tried, tested and utterly trusted by carpers globally, but it’s the breathtaking breadth of its range that’s so impressive these days. It’s almost like innovation is spliced into Trakker’s DNA, so much so, that it’s impossible to second-guess what the Sheffield bivvy behemoth will wow us with next. We’re so excited to get our hands on stuff like the new Base XP Jacket (bang on trend), the Superdome Bivvy (palatial), and the Vortex Clothing (uber-carpy), but we’ve got to admit, the new Levelite Oval Bed is the showstopper. Put simply, this rather beautiful piece of carping furniture is about to make you rethink what a bedchair looks like…

First up, let’s tackle the shape. It’s curvy, in ALL the right ways. Frankly, that seductive oval shape looks more than a bit beautiful, but, like all landmark design, it’s a triumph of function too. Trakker thought hard about how we use the space in our bivvies, and designed a bed that’s big, but actually frees up space inside the shelter. Bloody clever, that, and the innovation doesn’t stop with the shape. It’s actually much more than just a bed; it’s a full-on sleep system, thanks to the clever zip-on bag (a roomy, three-season affair). Because of the tapering shape at the head and the foot of the bed, the bag warms up that much quicker too, which is a nice touch.

The mechanics of the bed are similar to the rest of the award-winning Levelite range. You’ve got the totally flat profile, double hinges to allow the whole lot to fold away flat with the bag attached, adjustable lumbar support and those handy patented adjustable legs, which can be deployed with one hand. The result is a bedchair system that’s so unique and refined that it might just be the best we’ve seen!

Key Points 1. The revolu-tionary oval shape optimises the use of space 2. Adjust-able lumbar support for a firmer mattress 3. The bag can easily be removed for cleaning 4. Super-quick to use: simply unclip and unfold 5. Totally flat profile for a perfect night’s sleep

Where technology goes, comfort improves...

1960 - The Lafuma camp bed: sourced from France and used by the likes of Jack Hilton and Roger Smith. 1982 - The KM Bedchair (Kevin Maddocks) was launched and sold in kit form for £45.00. 1987 - Fox introduce angling’s first elasticated mattress-type bed, complete with extra padding and adjustable legs.

1993 - Fox suddenly face a fresh challenge: JRC appear on the scene with a bed that featured a third leg.

1995 - Nash launches a bed with two cam wheels. One adjusts your back angle; the second just your neck. It doesn’t take off.

2001 - Kevin Nash’s second shot at the bedchair market was a game-changer. The Indulgence was unlike anything we’d ever seen before: double-filled mattress, double braced legs and it measured a whopping 210 (L) x 100cm (W).

2003 - Boasting the same comfort features as the original Indulgence, but this bigger version had an extra 18cm added to its waistline and is named ‘The Wide Boy’.

2010 - Nash again - this time with a new concept where the sleeping bag was built into the bedchair itself.

2011 - The Fox Flatliner: the world’s first bedchair with revolving cam wheels.

2017 - Trakker evolve the humble bed to even higher heights with the Levelite Oval. Its shape not only offers more space in your shelter, but the tapered foot end allows for faster warming and better heat retention.
