Rive R-Waggler Design Rod
Rive is a brand which has excelled on the continent and it boasts an enviable reputation for both the quality of its manufacture as well as the practicality of its design. Although most famous for seat boxes, the brand has branched out into all areas of match fishing since it was established in 1987. In the past 30 years, the brand has become synonymous with match fishing excellence – both in its homeland of France and across Europe. Now the brand is looking to make an imprint on the UK and it has designed a range of rods (cannes Anglaises) with British match fishing in mind. This is the premier waggler rod in the English range which has been created for the dedicated match angler and once you’ve invested in the rod you’ll be amazed by what it can help you achieve on the water.
The Rive R-Waggler Design has been manufactured from Toray carbon. This is Rive’s premier carbon construction and it ensures that the brand can offer up a rod blank which is both slim and solid – offering you the kind of performance benefits that you’ll need to experience for yourself in order to believe. This technology is only put to use on Rive’s very top end rods in order to give you the kind of action and feeling that you’ll demand from an ultra-performance piece. This is certainly a rod which has been designed with the serious angler in mind.
There are two different rods in the range, both of which are 13ft in length but have been designed with specific skills in mind. The first rod in the collection is the Rive R-Waggler Design 390 Light. This is a three section rod which offers a pack down size of only 1.35m, so you won’t have to scrabble for the appropriate luggage as you might with other 13ft rods. As the name suggests, this rod has been designed for your lighter waggler fishing needs and it has an optimal casting weight range of between 3g and 8g. This makes it best suited for use on calmer days when you don’t need to use a heavy lead or a weightier float to provide the kind of stability on the water that you require when waggler fishing. This rod comes in a 140g, too. This means it is ultra-light, especially for a 13ft outfit, which is ideal for your waggler needs.
The other rod in the range is the R-Waggler Design 390 Medium. As the name suggests, this is the stepped up rod in the range which has been designed for casting heavier terminal tackle, targeting bigger fish, and for reaching greater distances. If this kind of waggler fishing appeals to you then this really will be the rod of your dreams. The rod is 147g in weight, which might be slightly heavier than the 390 Light but this additional weight is reflected in the rods additional strength. The rod can cast weights between 6g and 12g, which is perfect for a whole range of math fishing scenarios but is particularly useful if you’re targeting choppier waters when you’ll need a weightier float to hold its position in the water, or if you’re on a faster flowing river. As with the 390 Light, this rod is a three section outfit with a small pack down size of 1.35m. Both of the rods in the range are kitted out with 13 line guides, for flawless line transmission.
If you’re a match fishing fanatic who enjoys the rewards that waggler fishing can provide, then you’ll need one or both of these Rive R-Waggler Design rods in your arsenal.
