Aqua M3 Compact Bivvy
If you are someone who has long lusted after the original Aqua M3 but you are trying to consolidate your carp fishing equipment then this is the perfect compromise for you. This Aqua M3 Compact Bivvy offers all of the benefits of the original M3 but in a new compact design. What’s more, although the footprint of the Aqua M3 Compact is smaller than the original (2,540mm wide by 1,980mm deep) it is still able to offer you ample interior space. This means that you never have to cut down on any of your angling essentials and you can comfortably fit your bedchair and all your tackle items in the M3 Compact Bivvy. This bivvy has been designed to bridge the gap between a classic one man bivvy setup and a 60 inch brolly, making it ideal for the angler who likes to make their mark in a swim a little more permanent but who doesn’t want to be weighed down by unnecessary fabric. In fact, this bivvy is almost half the weight of the original and it weighs in at a mere 12.7g with all parts included. This is remarkable, especially considering that you don’t loose half of the size of the bivvy.
The Aqua M3 Compact Bivvy is manufactured from performance grade Aquatexx, which is Aqua’s dedicated waterproof material designed with angling in mind. It has a twin rib design, which not only helps with reducing the weight of the bivvy but it also ensures that it can offer supreme stability – even in inclement weather. The twin ribs are supported structurally via the use of frame supports. It also boasts the same porch peak as the original M3. This not only provides further protection from the elements – preventing rain ingress through the door of the bivvy – but it also means that you can comfortably sit in the bivvy with the door open, looking out over your swim, without your vision being impeded. Should you wish to further decrease the weight of the bivvy, you can remove this front peak entirely via the use of a simple zip – giving you maximum versatility. The height of the bivvy is 1,240mm, which goes further towards ensuring that the bivvy offers ample visibility.
The Aqua M3 Compact Bivvy has front and rear vents, which allow air flow right through the bivvy on muggy summer nights. These also act as mozzie mesh, allowing you to effectively sleep with your door ‘open’ (front panels rolled back) to keep you cool on hot nights. It comes supplied with its own groundsheet, heavy duty pegs, and a top quality carry case for ease of transportation and storage. It also comes with a tension strap, in case you wish to further lighten the weight of the bivvy and use it without a ground sheet.
To erect the bivvy, first lay out the ground sheet. Aim to face the bivvy with its back to the wind, as this will aid stability should the wind pick up, and the Aqua logo will indicate the location of the door. The groundsheet is slightly larger than the footprint of the bivvy so there is no need to over stretch it. The two tension hooks on the groundsheet must face downwards. Then place the M3 Compact into the centre of this and unfold the poles. You will then be able to slot the poles together, creating the ribs of the bivvy. Attach the rings on the frame to the rings on the groundsheet and begin to construct the bivvy under tension by pegging in around all sides. If you’re using the porch it is at this point that you can push through the porch pole, after which you should affix the frame supports.
