YESTERDAY, TOASTERS… TODAY, THE WORLD! RidgeMonkey looks set to smash headlong into the terminal tackle market in 2017, and we can’t wait to see the results if this first drop is anything to go by!

The impact that RidgeMonkey has made since dropping its game-changing toaster has been nothing short of seismic! Cool, niche products sold like hotcakes and it seemed that everyone wanted a piece of the pie (sorry…). Well, if you thought that the chaps were going to stop at producing indispensable accessories that improve your quality of life while you’re bankside, then you’d have been sorely mistaken. You see, RidgeMonkey has far loftier aspirations! They’ve set their sights firmly on the terminal tackle market and have dropped a couple of big-hitting main lines to open their assault, which promises to deliver a ton of exciting terminal kit this year and beyond…

1.) You like the performance of mono, and the invisibility of fluoro Well, this is where it gets exciting! There’s nothing conventional about RM-Tec Fluoro. It’s neither a mono, nor is it a true fluorocarbon; in fact, it combines the best of both worlds! RidgeMonkey has managed to coat a pre-stretched mono with fluorocarbon, to produce a line that sinks fast and is extremely low-viz, with that rugged mono core too!

2.) You’re a bulletproof mono kinda angler? Allow us to introduce your new favourite main line, RM-Tec Mono! It’s a tough, yet supple mono that has very little stretch compared to its competitors. Colour-wise, you can have it your way too, because this mono is available in clear, brown and green.

3.) Trust is important RidgeMonkey opted to conservatively rate their lines, which means that, as long as you tie your knots correctly (they recommend Palomar, Figure-Of-Eight or Grinner knots) you’ll always achieve at least the stated breaking strain. So, you know exactly where you’re at in terms of knot strength.

4.) Feeling the lakebed is key to your approach Feeling that lead hit the bottom is vital, so RidgeMonkey were determined to produce a couple of lines that exhibit very little stretch. The RM-Tec Fluoro is particularly low-stretch, thanks to a pre-stretched mono core, that allows you to feel more precisely what your lead is landing on. The RM-Tec Mono is low stretch too, so you can go with your heart, if you’re a mono guy or gal, and not lose too much ‘feel’.

5.) Value is important That’s precisely why the RM-Tec lines are available on such big spools. The mono is supplied on 1,200m spools, for just £18.99, and is available in Clear, Brown and Green in the following breaking strains: 12, 15 and 18lb. The RM-Tec Fluoro comes on 1,000m spools, in 15 and 20lb BS, for just £24.99, which is an absolute steal in the fluorocarbon market! The upshot is that you’ll be able fill three or even four big-pit reels for a snip.
