Spring Into Fishing With The Angling Trust

Fishing is a fun, family-friendly way to safely enjoy the natural world that's right on your doorstep, learn new skills, make new friends, and experience the health benefits of spending time outdoors, engaged in an enjoyable activity that's never the same from one moment to the next.

At Angling Direct, we're proud to support the Angling Trust, and, as a company committed to encourage more people, of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience to take up angling, we're excited about their month of bringing fishing to a venue near you.

Every Saturday in March, the Angling Trust will be hosting a Spring Into Fishing taster event, complete with all the tackle and bait you'll need. Visiting a different area of the country each week, there's bound to be an event near you; if it's a bit of a drive away, why not make it part of a family-focused weekend?

All Spring Into Fishing events are free, and open to all ages, genders, and abilities, so there's no reason for you not to come along, have a go, and get fishing!

Where And When?

The first session covers the West Midlands, and takes place in Stratford-Upon-Avon, at the Stratford Recreational Grounds, from 10am until 2pm, on Saturday 3rd March.

On Saturday 10th March, again from 10am-2pm, Spring Into Fishing cimes to the South East, and takes you to Jean's Pond, Braybrooke, just outside of Bracknell.

The East Midlands Spring Into Angling casts out on the 17th March, 10am-3pm, at Abington Park, Northampton.

On March 24th, the North West gets to go fishing, when the Angling Trust's Spring Into Fishing event rocks up to Boggart Hole Clough Country Park, Manchester, from 10am-3pm.

And finally, on March 31st, Spring Into Fishing events take place in the South West, at Rockerhayes Wheel Pond, Newton Abbot, from 10.30am-4pm, and in Yorkshire and the North East, at Pool Bridge Fishery, York, from 10am-2.30pm

What Do I Need To Bring?

Just your enthusiasm! Angling Trust provides all the bait and tackle you'll need for the day's session, so you'll just need to make sure you're wearing suitable outdoor clothing, and come ready to have fun. The sessions are completely free, so you don't even need to bring your wallet!

Spring Into Fishing is a dynamic, fun, engaging exploration of the sport of angling that's ideal for all ages – so grandparents and grandchildren can equally enjoy quality time together, while parents and teenagers find common ground.

Once the Spring Into Fishing day is over, Angling Trust provides information on local angling clubs, and gives participants all the grounding you need to continue employing the skills you've learnt, and enjoying the sport you've experienced.

Background

The Angling Trust exists to promote and encourage participation in angling, and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to learn new skills, enjoy the great outdoors, have fun, and make friends.

Spring Into Fishing is about skills, friendship, fun, and experience, and exists to encourage practical enagagement in a sport which encourages patience, focus, attention to detail, and a calm, intelligent approach to the natural world. Funded by the Environment Agency, Spring Into Fishing is just one of a wealth of practical, visible answers to the question; “What does my fishing licence fee get spent on?” The more people, of all backgrounds, who are enabled to engage with the joys of coarse fishing, the more anglers there will be in the future; the more anglers there are, the better condition Britain's network of waterways will be in, and the healthier, and more numerous, the stocks of fish in those waters will be.

From Our Point Of View

At Angling Direct, we don't just see increased participation in angling as “more potential customers.” Many of our staff are passionate anglers, and, as a company, we care about the future of angling, and the health of Britain's rivers and fish stocks, first and foremost, which is why we're proud to be connected with organisations such as the Angling Trust, and to engage with the work of the Environment Agency.

We wish the Angling Trust every success with Spring Into Fishing 2018, and hope that those who take part come away wanting to go fishing more often; if you decide, after experiencing the potential that coarse fishing has to offer, that you'd like to start building your own tackle kit, then why not see where your nearest Angling Direct is, or browse our website to find the right tackle for you?
