Specimen Spring Tench... Justin Grapes Our specimen ace Justin Grapes has recently been getting amongst the specimen Tench on his local gravel pit. Fishing short overnight sessions the big fish angler has strung together an impressive list of hard fighting Tinca’s.

In his most recent session, he managed six fish over 7lb and two over 9lb, topped by a 9lb 10oz and 9lb 12oz beauty.

Baiting a plato around 50 yards out, with a mixture of dead maggots, caster and bloodworm pellet saw a steady stream of specimen Tench grace his landing net.

The successful rigs were constructed from 2oz inline Korda leads, ESP Leadcore Leaders, Korda Supernatural Hooklink and size 11 Drennan Barbel Hooks. The hook bait which tempted the Tinca's was a bunch of the Drennan rubber casters.
