Get Your Teeth Into Angling With Saber

Giving you stylish, dynamic, and affordable angling, Saber is a brand that's built to last, offering a range of budget friendly luggage, cookware, and bankside tech options that are sure to appeal to any carp angler, and plenty of anglers from other disciplines, too.

In this piece, we'll be looking at a selection of Saber's bankside tech, as angling follows other sports, and embraces the opportunities the twenty-first century has to offer, whether that's technology that makes your life easier, or simply makes it a little bit more fun.

Saber Litesaber

 Tell Me About It

Not really helpful in a duel, and definitely not going to make you a Jedi master anytime soon, the Litesaber from Saber combines the functionality of a bivvy light and a power pack, giving you everything you need to light up your bankside life, and make your fishing session “lit”, as the cool kids say.

Featuring a USB output, so that you can charge your phone quickly and easily, the Litesaber has two light settings, and an emergency flash – making it, technically, a three-in-one bivvy light, power pack, and emergency beacon, and a very handy piece of kit for anglers who prefer their swims to be wild, remote, and isolated.

An ABS and aluminium body gives a robust durability, whilst ensuring that the Litesaber is a fraction of the weight of a standard battery light and power pack combination, a winning factor for anglers who like to stay on the move.

A smart driver prevents overcharging, while the 400 lumen light gives six hours of bankside illumination, whilst charging a standard smartphone.

What Do People Think?

A useful bivvy accessory, especially if you're bivvied up for a week or more, and want the flexibility to move quickly and easily, without a lot of gear weighing you down.

Saber LiteSaber Solar Panel

 Tell Me About It

Small but affordable, this LiteSaber sadly wouldn't be much use in a duel, although you can use it very effectively in a battle against the forces of darkness, with your Litesaber bivvy light being fully charged in 9-14 hours, depending on the level of cloud cover. On a bright summer day, that means you can get up at 7am (perfectly civilised time to start your fishing), when the sun's already bright and about, pop your bivvy light on charge, go about your day's activities, and know that, come eight or nine o'clock at night, when it's starting to get a little bit dusky, and you're thinking of settling in for the evening, your lamp will be ready to shine bright through the night.

What Do People Say?

Is it really necessary? Probably not, but it looks cool, and solar panel charging is definitely the future; at this price, why not get ahead of the trend?

Saber Catch M8

Featuring remote Bluetooth shutter release, on a lightweight tripod that's easy to carry anywhere, the Saber Catch M8 is great if you're fishing solo, and don't want to be weighed down with heavy camera equipment.  It's also an affordable option for those of us who can't afford a top-spec digital camera, and aren't fussed about getting professional grade trophy shots.

With an LED flash unit that comes into its own during night fishing sessions, or on overcast days, the Catch M8's smartphone bracket can accommodate most standard smartphones, with the Bluetooth compatible remote shutter release allowing you to effortlessly stage the perfect shot.

If you're a stalking angler or a casual specimen hunter, get the Saber Catch M8, and take it with you, to avoid the angling inevitability of catching a beautiful example of your favourite species, or a new personal best on a session where you weren't really expecting much action at all, and not being able to get a good photograph.

What Do People Think?

Our customers love the Catch M8, and consider it an easy to use, value for money option that comes into its own when a secluded swim throws up a stunning surprise.

Bankside Tech: A Summary

At the moment, we're not seeing a lot of bankside technology, certainly compared to the hi-tech aspects of many other sports, but it's definitely coming through. A process that started with adapting the established technology of sonar, and making it portable enough for casual anglers to use to locate likely features and active fish shoals, is moving forward, picking up and studying every aspect of angling, to see what it can improve, revolutionise, and make easier, particularly for anglers with disabilities, in the coming years.

At Angling Direct, we pride ourselves on being ahead of any rising waves, leading the rush to new shores; whatever you're hoping for in the digital revolution, if it's relevant to angling, you'll probably find it here first.

Saber: In The Spotlight

Saber is one of the UK's most exciting carp brands, providing British anglers with everything from technology to tea kettles, bedchairs to bivvies, and fish care to action-ready carp fishing rods.  Their website looks carpy, and their products more than live up to that promise.  If scaley beauties pulled from the depths are what floats your fishing boat, then Saber might just be the brand for you.
