The Wednesday Review…

Fortis Sunglasses Now I don’t think I’d surprise many people by saying that fishing has never been considered the ‘coolest’ of sports, however in recent years this has changed a little, as slowly but surely the sport is starting to get more exposure. This has happened through a few different things, for example Sky Sports involvement has seen the introduction of the Fish’O’Mania and Thinking Tackle series on mainstream TV.

However people still think of Anglers as lonesome figures, clad in green oil skins, ex-surplus army clothing, sitting on wicker baskets for hours on end! However this couldn’t be further from the truth!

As angling moves into the mainstream, the anglers, tackle and clothing are also following suit and today the clothing is want I want to talk about, in particular sunglasses!

A new range we’ve just added to our website is from a company called Fortis and they produce some quality, modern, fashionable, polarised glasses.

Fortis has carved itself a new niche in the fishing sunglasses market.

Inspired by designer specs models, it has produced a range that ticks the functional and stylish boxes for modern fishing lenses.

Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean that it has compromised on functionality. The frames all wrap around the eyes preventing sidelight ingress, a common problem with some non-fishing sunglasses. The lenses feature a light gradient, allowing you to adjust your line of sight depending on the situation and light conditions.

So, put simply, you now have functional polarising sunglasses with all the good qualities of a fishing lens, that you are happy wearing in the pub garden and on the bank. What’s more, they are very affordable, so you can get a couple of pairs that take your fancy. When we received them in the office we were really impressed. There are three models in the current range, with more set to be released. Fortis will also be releasing an amber-lens variety for each model, so there is a pair for every light level. Office favourites include the matt-black Raybanesque frames and the iconic tortoise shell Aviator frames.

Fortis is already gaining a bit of a following, with anglers such as Gareth Fareham, Jerry Hammond and Terry Dempsey all part of the Fortis phenomenon.

There are many takers for this range and we feel that there will be a few people in the office keeping a couple of pairs for more thorough testing!

We Liked The stylish designs

We didn't Like The lenses were a bit dark on dull days
