Advanta Saturday- Advanta MZ 50 & 60FS Freespool Reels

The MZ Freespool Reel offers carp anglers affordable tackle without restricting on performance.

Most freespool reels are considerably lighter than their big-pit siblings, so if regular recasting is required when surface fishing, it is a good idea to invest in a smaller reel. The Protector MZ Freespool Reel comes in a choice of two sizes. The 50fs has a line capacity of 0.35mm/160m and the 60fs has a line capacity of 0.35mm/200m. Both reel sizes are well suited to carp and specimen fishing at mostly close-range, perfect for anglers that love stalking.

Being a freespool reel, Advanta has provided a reel that allows its line to be peeled from the spool when the bail arm is closed, however a simple turn of the reel handle disengages this function which is great as soon as you feel that twinge in your rod as you pick up a bite. This feature is perfectly accompanied by the gear ratio of 4.9:1, meaning one turn of the handle rotates line around the spool 4.9 times, quickly reeling the line in once a fish bites.

The MZ drags can also be fine-tuned for ultimate control using the ball bearing which offers a reduction of friction between the moving parts. Freespool reels create a smooth casting and trolling, the MZ freespool revolves the spool without any tensions in the line as well as featuring an additional drag system which can be manually engaged/disengaged with a simple switch. Switching it on while the bait is in the water allows a fish to hook itself and swim away freely, by allowing the line to be released/dragged out from the spool, avoiding the rod from being pulled into the water!

Advanta has also upgraded their reel with a positive lock, with a silent anti-reverse option. This is to stop you from rolling the reel backwards thus avoiding tangles. It also allows you to control the tension on the line, too tight a line will snap so this feature is fundamental to ensure you do not lose any fish. However, you can switch off the anti-reverse function so you can strike and play the fish on the standard drag system.

Both sizes of the MZ reel is made of durable plastic for its body, finished with an ergonomic handle grip, providing both comfort and security. Unlike the previous styles of reels, the MZ features a balanced rotor, meaning the reel is smooth when cranking, with a soft vibration rather than the wobble of the older reels.

The features do not end there, the MZ also has slow oscillation, meaning the rate of the spool moving up and bottom of the reel is gradual, meaning less friction as the line leaves the spool, improving your casting distance and accuracy. The reel runs smoothly with the coiled bail spring so that when closing the bail arm, you get a gentler, quitter click into place.

If that was not enough, Advanta also delivers the reels with a graphite spool that comes with a line clip, keeping it all in place when in transit as well as providing a spare spool with this product.

Sounds like a great addition to your angling collection, right? Test out the MZ freespool reel that is wealthy in features but considerable in cost.
