Trot On & Alliance Charter Fishing Report – June

After somewhat of a slow start to the year, thanks largely to the extended cold spells, the fishing in Whitby has finally picked up enough to allow us to bring you the latest report from our charter fishing boats, Trot-On and Alliance.

The Whitby water is finally starting to clear out and, day by day, we’ve experienced continued improvements in catch rates. Both of the boats have been able to get out and stuck into the fish with excellent results. Over the past few weeks the most successful angler aboard the two boats managed to bag himself 18 fish, and as a collective the six anglers on board managed somewhere between 60 and 70 fish in total. All in all not a bad day’s fishing – if we do say so ourselves. On average we’ve been landing 4lb – 5lb fish, with the odd 8lb – 9lb thrown in the mix. Although these are smaller than we would like it is worth remembering that the start of the season always brings the smaller fish. With a little patience and time we know that we’ll soon be on to the bigger fish that start to poke their noses out of the wrecks slightly later on into the year.

Trot-On-2 We’re full into our preparations for Whitby’s annual summer festival, too. Running between 25th June and 25th July it’s one of the biggest events in the Whitby angling calendar. With a £5,000 main prize, as well as plenty of daily prizes, junior prizes, ladies prizes, and species awards, the four week festival is something we look forward to year on year. Trot-On is the most successful charter on the Whitby waters, in terms of festival wins, and has won the last three festivals to be held in Whitby. It’s a streak we’d love to continue and make it four wins on the trot!
