Carp Fishing Hungary - In Association With Sportquest Holidays
Hungary is fast becoming the new ‘must-fish’ European location for the dedicated carp angler – and it’s not hard to see why. Home to the current world record carp – a beast which tipped the scales at a whopping 105lb – and with acres of virtually untouched lakes, not only does Hungary offer up some stunning carp but it has the scenery to match. Now, for the first time ever, Sportquest is offering bespoke holidays to this beautiful country, taking you to three of the best lakes the country has to offer to hunt for some truly monstrous carp.

Holiday 1: Paradise Lake – Tour Code: HUN001
This holiday offers you your own little piece of Hungarian carp fishing paradise. The 44 acre lake on the east of Hungary will be your playground and, since there are only 15 swims, you’ll have plenty of room to spread out. The lake features seven islands and plenty of bars, so there are features galore for you to aim for and plenty of water to work. It is stocked with an impressive roster of carp, over 150 of which are in excess of 40lbs, and the lake record currently stands at an impressive 62lbs. This fish was last spotted in 2012, so it is well due another landing – could you be the lucky one to break the record?
Your accommodation for the week is a lakeside log cabin, a mere 5 meters away from your very own private swim, and comes equipped with your very own boat (outboard not included). You’ll be sleeping in two bunk beds and the cabins come with their own fridge and microwave. However, if you don’t fancy doing you own cooking, you can always order a traditional Hungarian meal from the local restaurant. The food is reasonably priced and they will even deliver to your swim, so you won’t even have to pack away your rods!
If you want to take a break from reeling in huge double figure carp, you can always stop off at the nearby zoo or wellness spa. There is also an onsite playground, to keep your children entertained between takes, and the lake is staffed by a 24 hour security service. This is the perfect venue for the angler who wants to enjoy carp fishing in paradise – whether you’re on a solo trip or you want to bring the whole family with you.

Holiday 2: Neverland Lake – Tour Code: HUN002
If faith, trust, and pixie dust can’t get you to Neverland then Sportquest certainly can! Situated on the west side of Hungary, a little under 90km from the Austrian border, Neverland is comprised of two lakes full of double figure carp. The first of the lakes has existed on the site for half a century, so it is well established with a collection of impressive carp. The younger lake is 20 years old and it has matured well since being established. Originally designed to be a private venue, the lakes are virtually undisturbed and only the owner and his friends have touched the water in recent years. Until 2015, the largest carp to have been retrieved was 35lbs. However, plenty of fish in excess of 40lbs have been spotted in its depths, so the lake record really is yours for the taking. You can always aim for one of the lakes massive catfish, too, and fish to 120lbs have graced its banks.
There are two different accommodation options available for this brand new venue. The Large Wooden Lakeside Cabin was built in 2016 and can house up to six anglers across three twin rooms. With a huge swim right on its doorstep, this cabin is perfect for anglers looking for a social session and a huge terrace gives you a stunning view over the lake.
The Luxury Lakeside Cabin has been designed in the traditional Hungarian style and it is kitted out with all the latest modcons. Featuring a large galley kitchen, a lounge area with a wide screen TV, and free WiFi, this cabin sleeps nine and is ideal for a large group of friends or family. The luxury doesn’t end there, however, and outside the cabin you’ll find your own sandy beach area. This includes an outside dining area, palm trees, and a Jacuzzi for you to relax in after a hard day’s angling.

Holiday 3: Island Lake – Tour code: HUN003
This 34 acre lake in central Hungary is a real gem boasting an abundance of heavyweight commons. This is a purpose built lake featuring lots of small and large islands to ensure that you can enjoy your swim in privacy. With only 16 swims around the venue, you’ll have lots of room to work the water, and each swim comes with its own private jetty and boat. On average, the carp in this lake come between 25bs and 45lb, but you might just be lucky enough to hit one of the venue’s 60lb residents. If you want a change of tone, you’ll be pleased to know that this lake also stocks a range of grass carp, as well as up to 55lb sturgeon, too. These hard fighting species are a real thrill to land and the Sportquest team are confident that you’ll see a couple of them grace your net during your stay.
Your accommodation is a traditional lakeside cabin, so you’ll be able to enjoy a life of luxury away from your bivvy! With two bunk beds in each cabin, this is an ideal holiday for a group of four and it comes with its own fridge and microwave to help you prepare your meals. For a small charge, you can order lunch to be delivered to you swim for undisturbed fishing and a charming local restaurant serves delicious Hungarian food, too. If you want to rest your aching arms after a day of hard-fought battles, you can relax in the on-site wellness spa, too.
