Feeder Fishing For Bream - The Bait & Method Challenge!

Feeder Fishing For Bream - Bait & Method Challenge!

For this session we took the camera's down to a relatively unfished gravel pit, in the hope of connecting with some of its resident slabs! When we say slabs, we of course mean big Bream!

Rather than a standard feeder fishing session we decided we inject a bit of competition, as we opted to fish a little challenge, this challenge was...

Man made baits and modern tactics V Natural baits and traditional tactics

This would entail fishing two separate area's; one rod would be fished to the left hand side of the swim with a modern method feeder and man made baits, pellets and boilies etc The other rod would be fished to the right hand side of the swim with a traditional open ended feeder and natural baits, maggots, worms and caster etc

To spice up the competition me and Steve agreed a crisp £5 note would go to the winner! I had opted for the natural baits and Steve had gone for the man made baits, my thinking was that as the lake was relatively unfished the fish might not be used to man made baits and would much prefer a juicy worm! Steve however, had so much faith in the man made baits, that he believed they would catch anywhere, after all they are specifically designed to catch fish!

Now the first task of the session was getting some bait out into the swim, as everyone knows Bream are hungry bottom feeders and love a good feast! The quickest and easiest way to introduce our free offerings was to use a device called the spomb. For those who don't know, it's a relatively new baiting tool, which is a 'modern twist' on the spod, you can find out all the details on it, in our tackle list below. We fed around 20-30 spomb loads of groundbait on each spot before making the first cast.

Anyway I won’t ramble on anymore as you can see exactly how our session unfolded and who was victorious by watching the two part video below! To watch in HD simply click the little cog in the YouTube player and select 720p or 1080p.
