River Fishing In Summer - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly!

For this latest episode we headed down to our local river Wensum.

The previous day we'd fished the same stretch with the traditional stick float and had managed a nice mixed net of Dace, Perch and Minnows, but no Chub, we'd seen plenty but unfortunately our maggot hook bait was getting hammered before the bigger fish had a chance. However it was still a fun session, wading in the water, trotting a small stick float through the crystal clear water and admiring all manner of wildlife.

Fast forward less than 24 hours and we were back in the same spot, this time for a short evening session after work. The float rod and maggots had been left at home as this time we were hoping a Chub or two would be on the agenda!

With a lack of recent rain meaning the river was very low and clear we weren't exactly sure how we'd fare, but armed with minimal tackle and with plenty of fish visible we were hopeful we'd be able to winkle one or two out!

To find out exactly how we got on, in this video of 'ups and downs' and to perhaps find out a few tips along the way, watch this latest installment, from the waters edge.
