The first major improvement showcased in this reel is the significantly increased bearing count, compared to the original Ambassadeur CS reel. Fitted with four ball bearings, this reel is an incredibly smooth performer. Offering a silky cast and retrieve, these ball bearings also increase the life of the reel. Traditionally, sea fishing reels suffer badly from extreme wear due to saltwater entering the body of the reel and drying out – leaving behind highly corrosive particles of salt. Although rinsing the reel after each use is extremely advisable, these additional ball bearings do reduce the risk of the salt corroding the essential moving parts of the reel.
The second impressive feature on the reel is the Carbon Matrix Drag system. This system is the hardest wearing out of any currently available on the market today. Both stronger and smoother than Abu Garcia’s previous offerings, Carbon Matrix Drag makes distance casting comfortable and ensures your retrieve is dream like – even when you’re battling a hard fighting opponent. This handle allows for a more ergonomic transferral of power between the handle and the rotor system, ensuring you can get more torque for your buck.
