In testing, the Fox Rage team discovered that a 12ft rod was cumbersome and unwieldy to use on a boat. This is obviously a huge problem when you’re trying to dextrously control a lurein close quarters. The Fox Rage team found that by shortening the length to 10ft the rod was able to perform with greater accuracy and, considering that on most boat fishing sessions you do not need to cast great distances, nothing was lost in terms of casting ability. In fact, if anything, the rod performed better on the short distance cast.
The rod’s shorter than average length also enables it to showcase a strong and resilient back bone. This is essential when you’re tackling hard fighting pike at close quarters and it can dominate even the most aggressive of the species.
