If you’re a fly fishing or lure fishing fan who likes to target a range of fish from wild trout in the Scottish highlands to hard fighting salmon on rivers around the world then this GX900 reel from Greys is the perfect solution. Available in two sizes, the smaller 6/7/8 reel is ideal for all mid-sized predator fishing, whereas the larger 10/11/12 is perfect for the hardest fighting predators that the UK’s waters have to offer.
This reel operates on a centralised twin rulon disc drag. This gives the reel a smooth fighting power that allows you to tackle the most aggressive predators with confidence and ease. Fitted with a large arbour spool, this reel can hold an impressive amount of line. This allows you to cast out to the areas of the water that you need and offers a huge retrieve rate – saving you endless cranking with every retrieve.
The GX900 is constructed from 6061 bar stock aluminium. This means that this reel is extremely hardwearing and durable, as well as offering all the rigidity you need when you’re facing up to the kind of violent fish that you might want to tackle. Not only this, but this aluminium construction ensures that this reel remains incredibly light in weight. This enables you to balance this reel perfectly on any of Greys’ fly rods.
Like many of Greys’ reels, the GX900 offers tool-less left to right wind conversion. This ensures that if you’re down on the bank and want to switch you angling style, or you’re simply lending your spool to a friend whose dominant arm is opposite to yours, then you can quickly and easily swap the handle. The reel is also fitted with a captive spool release, making it easy to exchange spools on the bank for a versatile angling experience (spare spool is available for purchase separately). The Greys GX900 comes supplied in its own neoprene pouch for complete reel protection.
