Prologic ENS 1 Man Bivvy
If you’re the kind of angler who likes to keep mobile on the bank during your quick overnighters, then chances are even a top of the range brolly system is too big and bulky for you. Weight and quantity of gear are all big disadvantages in these scenarios, yet you still want to keep protected from the elements – whether that is the roasting sun or the driving rain. In short, you want an easy night system; something that is small and compact enough to fit in a bedchair whilst also being robust enough that it can stand its ground against the worst of the elements. Luckily for you, the team at Prologic were after the same thing and have created the ENS One Man Bivvy.
Designed with the mobile angler in mind, the ENS One Man doesn’t claim to offer the same year-round protection as a bivvy. However, it will offer you protection when you need it the most and it is ideal for those anglers who prefer to sleep under the stars whenever possible. One of the biggest assets of the ENS One Man is that it is able to be stored inside your bedchair. This means that you never have to worry about lugging yet another piece of luggage down to the bank with you when you’re headed for a quick overnighter. Weighing in at only 1.5kg, you’ll hardly notice it among the rest of your gear, too. Not only does you bedchair create the storage for the bivvy (although it is also supplied with its own dedicated carry bag) but it also forms the main frame of the ENS. Clips on either end of the bivvy attach to your bedchair (these have been designed to fit most mid and standard sized bedchairs and this is certainly not a bivvy for the user of a robust wide boy bedchair) and hold in the perfect position.
The ENS works on a popup system, so it is incredibly quick to erect. As soon as you release it from its elasticated packaging, the ENS simply springs into position – ready to be lifted over your bedchair. This means that you don’t have to waste precious moments on the bank fiddling with ribs and tension straps. Instead, you simply release the bivvy and it is good to go! To give the bivvy additional structural support it is supplied with two tension poles, which prevent the bivvy from sagging down in the night. The bivvy also features split skirted pegging points. These allow strong winds to rip through the base of the bivvy, keeping you sheltered and preventing the bivvy from taking flight in the night.
This isn’t only a protection for the wind and rain, however, and Prologic has cleverly designed this bivvy in order to be the ideal protection throughout the baking summer months too. The large rear vent on the bivvy ensures that you can sit in even the most blazing heat whilst still enjoying a cooling breeze. The bivvy also has side vent points, which are ideal should the wind change direction. It also offers a hidden interior mozzie mesh door. This is ideal for the very warmest nights when the bankside mosquitoes and gnats are out in force, as you’re able to enjoy all the cool air whilst sill remaining protected from the elements.
The front door of the bivvy features dual toggle points, allowing you to peg it back in a variety of ways in order to create your bespoke shelter setup. This bivvy packs down almost as quickly as it sets up, too, so should the wind suddenly change and move the fish you can respond as quickly as possible, giving you the best chance of a take. It is the perfect mobile carp fishing companion.
