Based on the same magnetic oil concept that NASA scientists use to ensure the safe transportation of fuel into space, Mag Sealing a reel ensures that the internal mechanisms are completely waterproof whilst at the same time maintaining the frictionless rotation of the reel. This allows you to achieve maximum speed on the cast and have maximum crank on the retrieve, whilst at the same time ensuring that your reel has a long lifespan. In non-Mag Sealed reels, water, dirt, and grit can enter into the rotor and, over time, slow and wear the systems. This is an even bigger problem for sea fishing reels, where saltwater can enter, dry, and the salt can corrode the mechanisms.
