Description

G-Loomis NRX Universal Two-Hand Salmon & Steelhead Rods is one of the Best Fly Rod Ever Built. With this salmon rod, you can create more aerodynamic loops, extreme line speed and accuracy. All variations of the rod available here at Angling Direct are made from premium grade, Portuguese cork for the handle. Not only does this feel light and great in your hand but it will be very insulating for the cooler months.

The NRX is extremely light, smooth and powerful with a super-light recoil stripper and snake guide system, providing a fast taper and medium-stiff power action. The rod comes in four blanks meaning it can be easy to commute if you cross the channel for a spot of Salmon fishing.

The G-Loomis salmon rods have a comfortable ergonomic grip, an elegant custom reel seat and come complete with a soft, protective rod sock and Cordura-covered case.

You can select from the 13-foot rod that has a smooth, powerful casting and is rated for an 8/9 Scandi head. At 500 grains, it loads perfectly and makes tight narrow loops using the underhand cast. At 550 grains with the Skagit method, it will manage all the necessary tips - full sinking, intermediate or floating. While it casts short Scandi-style heads exceptionally well, its more than capable of handling a wide variety of casting strokes given the proper lines. A wonderful choice for medium to large rivers, it is capable of casting big, weighted flies if necessary to get down in those deep pockets where salmon and steelhead rest on their migratory journey. With NRX, you have unbelievable power and line control in a rod so light its hard to believe.

Or choose the 14-foot salmon rod. As two-handers get longer, its a given casting distance increases. The beauty of this great all-around 14-foot 9/10 is the NRX dynamics - insanely light, extraordinary power so much so it feels like a rod much shorter. It's totally capable of handling heavier heads and is sneaky quick - a bonus when you want to turn over big, weighted flies. Big winter steelhead won't go far to chase down a fly to put it right in their face, accuracy and line control is everything. Anglers swinging big tube flies on swift Nordic rivers will appreciate the power. Again we dual-rate them in both grams and grains for our worldwide market.

Finally, the 15-foot rod is built with maximum distance as the goal. Even in tough conditions - wind, rain, high water - you need a big rod, but one that won't wear you out. This rod that can cover the water, control the swing and still be manageable. It's hard to imagine a 15-foot 10/11-rod that can be characterized as manageable, but this one does all that and more. Again, thanks to NRX technology, this is the biggest, lightest, most powerful two-hander G-Loomis have made - unbelievable line control, capable of handling long 45 heads as well as large, air-resistant tube flies on the big rivers of Scandinavia, plus total coverage in the deep, fast runs these fish call home.
