Description

Tell Me About It

Giving any fish you catch a comfortable, reliable refuge on the bank, the Gardner Asylum is a mat that puts fish safety first, protecting and sheltering all coarse species, including large carp, while they’re out of the water.

Made from heavy duty 420D PVC backed polyester, which gives a comfortable feel that’s strong and resistant enough to cope with a range of banksides and swim edges. Reinforced webbing handles give you the strength of lift you need for big carp, while the foam grips ensure you can carry any fish safely and comfortably to a section of bank that’s suitable for unhooking, weighing, and photographing your catch, while a drainage mesh base ensures free and easy water exchange, allowing you to keep fish wet without getting your mat soaked.

At an unfolded size of 102cm x 61cm x 25cm, this cleverly designed mat folds into a compact, readily-transportable 96cm x 58cm x15cm, ensuring that you don’t lose space on your barrow by bringing this mat with you.

The removable central mattress, ideal if you’re unhooking by the water’s edge, and won’t need to transport your fish further up the bank, features 50mm of quality foam, ensuring that even heavy fish are comfortably and safely supported, and the whole mat fits neatly into the zipped carry bag supplied with it.

An integrated kneeling/retaining flap, with Velcro tabs, ensures both angler comfort and comprehensive fish safety, making the Gardner Asylum a premium fish care mat for unhooking, photographing, and open wound treatment.

What Discipline Is It For?

An essential part of your carp fishing set up.

Why Should I Buy It?

Looking after your fish while they’re out of the water, and ensuring they’re released in the best possible condition, ready to prove even more of a challenge further down the line, is a prime concern in angling, which is as much about appreciation as it is capture.

Whenever you have a fish on the bank, it should be fully supported, and protected from rough ground, as well as any damage it may cause itself by thrashing about, and a quality fish mat, such as the Asylum, is the most reliable way of providing that support and protection.  By purchasing an unhooking mat with a kneeler flap, and on which the mattress can either be removed, and set down as a basic unhooking mat at the water’s edge, or left as part of the whole mat, which is, in turn, designed to allow you to safely carry a fish a short way up the bank for weighing in, and taking photographs, you make life easier and safer for yourself, as well as the fish.

What’s The Best Thing About It?

A complete bankside refuge for all coarse species.
