Greys GR30 Fly Rod
The GR30 Fly Rod is the most forgiving rod in Greys’ GR range. This rod is renowned for being able to provide high line speeds but with minimal effort – allowing you to cast quickly and with accuracy to deliver fatal results. The rod blank boasts a high intermediate modulus construction, providing this fantastic medium/fast action for the dedicated fly angler who wants to develop their abilities in the discipline. This is a great intermediate rod in the Greys range and it is the perfect choice for the angler who wants to take a step up in the sport and to explore new avenues of angling.
The rod looks every bit as good as it casts and the rod blank is finished in a classy metallic olive colour. This makes the rod stand out from the sea of black rods on the market, without being such a drastic colour change that it looks garish. The furnishings on the rod are every bit as classy as the blank look. The reel seat on the Greys GR30 Fly Rod is black and anodised to be completely saltwater safe. One of the biggest problems for saltwater manufacturers is producing tackle that can stand up to the highly corrosive sea water. This anodisation ensures that you can use this rod for all your saltwater fly fishing as well as for a variety of freshwater uses, giving you maximum versatility. If you’re someone who wants your tackle to open up your angling opportunities, rather than close them down, then you’ll love this GR30 Fly. The handle of the rod has been manufactured from AAA grade natural cork. This is a hardwearing cork type which ensures that this rod is offering you the kind of grip you need in all the most intensive of fly fishing scenarios. As an added bonus, this cork type is also exceptionally light in weight. This is because Greys understands that fly fishing is a sport where you’re likely to have the rod in your hands whilst you’re stood out waist deep in your waders, rather than being sat on the bank with your rod in a rest. Where applicable, the rod also comes fitted with a black duplon butt extension, too.
This rod comes in a variety of lengths, each of which has been designed to be compatible with a specific ATFM fly fishing line rating. AFTM is the Asociation of Fishing Tackle Manufactures line grading system, in which the larger the number is the heavier the line will be. This then also determines the kinds of distances you’re able to cast, as well as the size of fish that you’re able to handle. For example, if you’re coming from a lure fishing background then the AFTM rating is much like the optimal casting weight range, which is listed on most lure fishing rods. From the smallest 8ft ATFM #4 rod to the largest 10ft ATFM #8 rod and a whole range in between, you’ll always be able to find a Greys GR30 Fly Rod that suits your needs. The rod is supplied in a cloth covered partitioned rod tube, to keep your rod completely safe in both transit and in storage, although if you wanted to give this rod even more security it would be recommended to invest in a piece of top end luggage. Greys recommend that you pair this rod with the Greys GX500 fly reel for the best effect.
