Sundridge has introduced a soft padded calf grip, the benefits of which are two fold. Firstly, the padding ensures the boot fits flush to the calf, aiding with heat retention. This means that in the coldest of conditions you’ll be left with toasty feet as, unlike traditional wellington boots, you won’t suffer from cold gusts of air with each step. Secondly, the padded grip makes the boot more comfortable when walking, so the hard edge of the boot doesn’t cut into your calf as you manoeuvre on the bank. The thermal stocking and inner sole are completely removable, making them easy to wash and wear – extending the life of the boot. When in the boot, they also add insulation – further improving the thermal qualities of this shoe. You can also remove them from the boot entirely, should you want a less insulated summer boot setup to quickly pull on should you have to enter the water at short notice. The boot also features a kick off wedge on the heel, making it easy to remove even when wet. This is also ideal in sub zero conditions, when your hand might be too numb to grip effectively. As with all Sundridge products, these boots have been certified as 100% waterproof and can withstand extended periods of submersion in cold water without loss of heat. This makes them ideal for all your low water wading, when you know that the water level won’t rise above your calf but you still need to get that little bit deeper to negotiate your carp around a snag.
