This Barbel Specimen Rod from the Fox Horizon X4 range of rods is the perfect weapon to catching a stubborn barbel in the bottom of the rivers. The Fox X4 rod is 12 foot in length so perfect for casting beyond the margins and has an impressive 2.75lb test curve, offering the flexibility required to tame the wildest of fish into your net.
The barbel rod is constructed from a higher tonnage of carbon in comparison to the previous Duo-Lite model. This excels the Horizon X4’s strength labelling it an out and out powerhouse of a rod that is perfect for heavy feeders on the most arduous of UK rivers. In using extra carbon, Fox has made a specimen rod that can easily be doubled up as a great rod for targeting tench and bream as well as barbel. The multi-layered, angled carbon cloth provides strength and improved action to make the monster catches yield.
The Fox Horizon X4 also features the Fox Slik double legged guides to protect your line and offer balanced stress and utilised the whole of the rods strength. In unison with the baitrunner reel, which can be attached securely to the 17mm Fuji reel seat, you will have an unstoppable piece of gear. Fox suggests using an 8-12lb monofilament as your mainlineto get the best performance and avoid any nasty snags.
Another great feature on this Fox rod is the very high-grade cork handle. Cork is notoriously known for being incredibly light but also it is very insulating and therefore a great bonus for the cooler months out by the bank. Warmer hands make a happier angler!
