Daiwa NewEra SLR Trout Fly Rods
Revolutionising fly fishing one rod at a time, Daiwa’s NewEra series has been produced in conjunction with Hywel Morgan and is one of the most impressive fly fishing options currently available. Utilising a killer combination of Daiwa’s world famous innovate technologies and Hywel’s famously exacting standards, this NewEra SLR Fly Rod operates at the very top of the range and is ideal for the angler for whom fly fishing is a lifestyle rather than simply a passion.
One of the most impressive of Daiwa’s technologies at work in the NewEra SLR Fly is Bias Carbon. This is a blank construction method that not only makes the rod blank stronger but it also allows for a greater power conversion. What makes Bias Carbon construction so much better than traditional methods? Bias Carbon is a process that layers the high volume carbon fibres at 45 degree angles from one another, whereas traditional carbon fibres are layered at right angles. This traditional method leaves room for weakness due to high torque; Bias Carbon is exceptionally torque resistant. This allows for greater power to build up in the key compression areas on the cast, enabling faster and more accurate casting each time.
To complement this increased casting ability the front end of the rod blank features and increased responsiveness. With a V-Joint segment joining system that shows significant improvements over the traditional ‘male to female’ joints, the NewEra is able to provide an internal constant taper profile. This ensures that power transfer along the rod is even, constant, and further aids with casting accuracy. This impressive blank has been furnished with titanium coated SiC guides with single snake legs. This allows for a pure line transmission along the length of the rod that is without risk of snagging or cutting. Available between 9ft and 10ft in length and in 5/6/7/8# options, the NewEra SLR Fly is suitable for trout and other forms of fly fishing, and the rod comes with an original owner lifetime guarantee as standard.
