Daiwa Tournament ISO QD

Lightweight, tough, and powerful, the Daiwa Tournament ISO QD reel has been built to tackle any big fish with performance excellence in an almost weightless package. Featuring all the latest technology from one of the worlds leading reel designers, the Tournament ISO is an exercise in reel distinction and finesse. In short, it represents the culmination of Daiwa’s 60+ years of fishing reel expertise and the brand is confident that it is as near to perfect as a mid-sized reel in this price range can be. The brand has been manufacturing top end fishing reels since the 1950s and this reel showcases the very best of the technology to come out of the brand and it joins a wealth of high end reels in the Tournament series.

The body of the reel has been manufactured from Air Metal. This is a magnesium based material which has been specially processed, ensuring that it is completely corrosion resistant. With this impressive anti-corrosive property, you can use the Tournament as successfully sea fishing as you can when carp fishing – safe in the knowledge that it is resistant to the usual destruction that saltwater can wreak. An AirMetal magnesium alloy body also ensures that this reel is incredibly lightweight and will balance superbly on the high-performance rod of your choice, too, making it the ultimate all-round tool. You’ll be pleased to know that its lightness doesn’t impact on its power output and this reel can convert each and every action with ease. If you’re someone who likes to target huge double figure carp then this is the ideal tool for you. Its 4.1:1 gear ratio is more than a match for the biggest UK fish and it can comfortably handle hunge continental species, too.

The Daiwa Tournament ISO QD has been fitted with the brand’s outstanding Digigear technology. This is a gearing system that reduces the pressure point between the tough alloy drive gear and the bronze pinion gear to a minimum. Not only does this reduce wear and tear on the reel but it also maintains your power output through the course of your retrieve. As well as this impressive technology, the reel also benefits from no fewer than seven ball bearings. Four of these have been fitted with additional corrosion resisting features and, in combination with Digigear, they ensure that the reel is an exceptionally smooth performer. Where other high power reels fail under the high-pressure of power production, this Tournament distributes the force evenly throughout the package. The ball bearings alone have 12 times the lifespan of standard ball bearings in a saltwater environment, and the reel is designed to perform at its peak for the entirety of its greatly extended lifespan.

This Tournament ISO has also been fitted with a forward-tapered aluminium QD spool. The quick drag ensures that you can engage in mere moments and it allows you to use the full free-spool abilities of the reel without any loss of control. AirBail line control and Twist Buster II are fitted as standard and ensure that this reel delivers perfect line lay. This enables you to get those extra few feet on your cast, which is ideal for the angler looking to target larger UK and European waters. The reel is finished with a classic aluminium and wooden handle, so it looks every bit as classy as you would expect from a top end Daiwa piece and it will look stunning on each of your carp rods or your sea fishing rod. If you’re looking to target big fish to your highest standards then you need the high-power performance of Daiwa’s Tournament ISO QD.
