This is the spare spool for the Greys GX300 fly and game reel. The Greys GX300 is the smallest in Greys’ latest range of game and fly fishing reels and this is the spare spool that fits the larger 6/7/8 of these. Because of its small size this reel doesn’t operate on the classic cassette system of the larger Greys GRX range, making changing the spool on this reel exceptionally easy.
To insert this spare spool into the frame of your Greys GX300, simply pop out the original spool using the intuitive captive spool release system. This leaves you with just the side frame of the original reel. You then simply slot the new spare spool into place and you’re good to go! It really is that quick and easy, and there are no tools required. This means that you can pre-load this spare spool with a different line option, enabling you to change-up your fishing style on the bank for ultimate versatility.
This spare spool features the same large arbour design as the original reel. This means that you can load up this spool with a considerable amount of line and it ensures level retrieve and perfect line lay – without the use of backing. Large arbour reels are particularly popular for this feature and, despite their marginally heavier weight, they have vastly exceeded traditional sized reels in terms of sales due to their enhanced performance quality.
This spare spool has the same all-black appearance as the original Greys GX300. This all black colour scheme brings what is otherwise a traditional looking reel – thanks to its perforated design – bang up to date and this reel looks great sat on any of Greys’ top end fly rods.
