MXP Lantern Mantle Instructions: Ensuring the gas control valve is firmly in the off position, remove the glass from the lantern by unclipping the two metal clips from under the casing. Open the mantle out and place it over the burner ensuring that it is not caught on the ignition. Please note: The red part of the mantle should be to the bottom with the string located around the lower notches on the burner and the green part to the top, again with the string secured around the upper notches. Replace the glass and the two clips under the lantern. The mantle now needs burning in. To do this, simply turn on the gas to approximately 50% and ignite. You may need to use a lighter or matches to do this and it should be done outdoors as it will smoke a bit, which is normal. Once the mantle has ignited, turn off the gas and allow the mantle to burn away to a crisp ash like material. The lantern is now ready for use.
