If you are a member of the avid fly fishing community then you’ll be more than familiar with the name Sage. The company has been producing award winning fly fishing rods since the 1980s. The Sage 3200 Series reel is one of two new reels that have been built along the same guidelines of the best selling Sage 4200.

A fully machined reel, the Sage 3200 has been built from 6061-T6 aerospace grade aluminium. This means that the reel is exceptionally strong as well as being incredibly lightweight. To further reinforce the reel the Sage 3200 has been cold forged and tempered, which adds additional rigidity. Rigidity is one of the most important factors in reel construction as it ensures that the reel doesn’t loose energy in unnecessary lateral movement. The surface of the reel has been hard anodised. This adds additional durability to the reel as well as ensuring its resistance to corrosion.

The drag knob on this reel has numbered and indented settings. This makes it easy to operate whether you’re looking directly at the knob or whether you’re fully focussed on your quarry. The drag has been built on the SCS function and has a ‘one revolution’ design. The spool on the reel has a large arbour, which has been moulded with Sage’s intelligent concave design. This not only gives it increased strength but it also significantly increases the capacity of the reel. With an increased capacity you can fit more line on the reel and cast further distances – ideal for hitting those far flung features and giving you full versatility on the bank.

The handle on the Sage 3200 has been ergonomically machined from aluminium – again giving increased strength and performance potential. This is also an ambidextrous reel and offers easy conversion between right and left handed setups. The whole reel comes supplied in its own neoprene case, ensuring it is fully protected in storage and in transit.
