Predator Indicators

In the cooler seasons when predators move to the bottom of the waters, you are going need a little more assistance when waiting for a take. Especially great for when you are dead bait fishing to catch a pike with a lead set up, an indicator can serve you well so you do not miss a screaming run.

We, here at Angling Direct stock a vast range of indicators and related accessories for the ultimate bite detection set up to support your bite alarms. You can get two different style types of indicators of either a drop-off indicator or a lightweight bobbin-style indicator. After you choose one of these styles, a lot of it comes down to personal preferences on colour and shape.

There’s only one real distinction: bobbin or swinger (the latter is sometimes referred to as a hanger). The bobbin design is fixed to the line itself, meaning that when the bobbin lets off its indication (whether that be by rising or lighting up) you know it’s because something is playing with the end of your line. Swingers or hangers hang below the line so that they provide much more sensitivity to slight movements. The downside of these types of indicators is that they can often give false readings, as they can be affected by the weather – you don’t want to disturb your rod only to realise you’re trying to reel in the wind! The discerning angler knows how to sit of their hands, though, and much of the skill of a pro-angler comes from their patience.

With pike drop off indicators make sure it is sensitive enough to provide the fish with a free run of the line so not to be spooked. We also stock a range of isotopes, beta lights and starlights that you can add to your bite alarm set up or to the tip of your rod. Forget glowsticks, isotopes will give a glow for session after session.

Be sure to check our traces to ensure your rig is complete, also see our floats section if you prefer not to use an alarm or indicator and prefer something more visual.

You’ll find every leading brand in our stock list, including Delkim, Korda, Fox, Taska, and so many more besides. Whether you’re looking to invest in your first ever set of fishing gear or maybe you’re out to take your already high-level skills to new heights, we’ve got exactly the product to suit your needs. What’s more, we scour the market on a daily basis in order to ensure that our prices are kept as low as possible.
