Angling Direct Super Saturday - Saturday 28th April 2018

Well, our first ‘Super Saturday’ event certainly went off with a bang! With three stores hosting corresponding events, it certainly was a busy, but very positive, weekend, and huge thanks must be given to all the customers who visited the store, plus all the brands and consultants that provided an entertaining and informative day.

Starting at Angling Direct Slough where the day began steadily, prior to ‘midday madness’, spurred on by the awesome cooking skills of ‘The Hungry Carpers’, and the delicious smell of fresh cooked, free to taste, award winning sausages.

Terry Dempsey was kind enough to supply free samples of Urban Baits to all customers, including some awesome special glugged baits, along with the new Strawberry Nutcracker bait, which received a lot of interest. If you weren’t there, head over to our webpage for more info on this new bait from Urban Baits. Terry also entertained customers with inspiring stories about his ‘old school’, and more recent, incredible carping exploits. Terry gave 5kg of the new Strawberry Nutcracker and matching popups as a competition prize in store on the day, too. It was a thoroughly entertaining day all round.

If you missed any of it, head over to our Facebook page, and watch our live video from the day, presented by Hassan. A massive thanks to everyone who came from far and wide to visit the store, and well done to store manager Lee Tomlinson and the whole staff team at Angling Direct Slough.

Moving on to Angling Direct Swindon, which hosted some real big hitters from the world of carp fishing, and that’s not taking into account our superstar carping manager Kevin Hewitt.

The day started with a flurry of customers and pretty much remained that way, right through to the end of the day at 3pm.

In store we had England International Chris Holmes (or, as he’s more affectionately known, Bonesy) from Trakker products, who was not only a great source of laughter, but was a fountain of knowledge on the new items from Trakker. He demonstrated and explained various new products including the new bivvy systems, luggage, fish care items and upcoming Trakker glasses, which will be at an Angling Direct store near you, and online, very soon!

width= Another England International, Mark Bartlett, from Fox, was also in store, providing detailed and extremely helpful rig advice. He not only was selfless in giving away components of his own to customers, but he even tied rigs for others to take away and use. With his angling pedigree, he made everything seem so simple; his rig help, and knowledge of Fox terminal tackle, was awesome.

Finally, both James Armstrong and Ian Moore from CC Moore were in store with a bait table full of boilies, liquids, sprays, pop ups, and everything else imaginable from the stunning CC Moore range. They offered incredibly helpful information to all customers on bait choices and tactics individual to each angler, and also gave away plenty of free samples to those customers in store on the day. They offered bulk boilie deals on the day, too, which were an absolute bargain.

The day was fantastic, and a huge thank you to all who attended, to Kev Hewitt and the staff for all their hard work, and to Mark Bartlett, Chis Holmes, James Armstrong and Ian Moore. If you want to look back at the day take a look at the live in store videos presented by Hassan on the Angling Direct Facebook page.

Last but by no means least there was Angling Direct Sheffield, who represented the northern half of the country with an action packed day full of all things Trakker and Maver.

Trakker representatives Gaz Hood, Garry Carlton and Loz East were in store, talking through the awesome new Trakker product launch. They even offered a lucky customer the chance to win a Trakker SLX V3 1 man bivvy . As ever, they were a mine of information, and gave great advice not just on their products but general fishing questions too.

Maver, represented by Sarah Phoenix, Eddie Bridon, and the legendary England International Tommy Pickering were in store, answering questions and giving talks about everything coarse fishing related. The ‘prize of a lifetime’, a fishing trip with Tommy Pickering, was on offer, as well as the chance to win a Maver MV-R rod. They were a roaring success, with the coarse anglers that visited being both thoroughly entertained and informed.

A huge thanks to store manager Nick Pinder and his team for all their hard work, as well as Trakker and Maver for the great support and prizes.

Overall the first ‘Angling Direct Super Saturday’ was received really well, with loads of people attending each store and enjoying meeting famous angling faces. A huge thanks to everyone who visited us, and look out for the next Angling Direct event coming to a store near you soon.
