The team at Costa del Mar derive inspiration for their stunning glasses from the people they meet and the places they go and the team have travelled the globe looking for anglers and locations which can fuel their creative energies. Sometimes this drive takes them to the furthest flung corners of the globe, other times it takes them about five minutes from their doorstep. The inspiration behind these sunglasses came from the latter and the Costa team knew they were on to a winner the second they shook hands with their local guide, Rafael. The team were awe struck by his ability to spot seemingly invisible fish from great distances – it was as if his eyes were perfectly attuned to the local water. These glasses are Costa’s tribute to him and they attempt to replicate his exceptional vision.

These sunglasses are the ultimate high-aggression tools for the serious fish finders out there who simply aren’t content with locating the easy fish that present themselves. With a wide temple design, to ensure they offer a perfect comfort fit, and three square-hole vents on each lens – keeping your eyes cool on the hottest days and prevents sweat built up around the lenses – these are ultra-performance glasses for the demanding angler.

There are three lens options in Rafael’s range. The first is a copper lens. This comes in a retro tortoiseshell frame and is ideal for those ‘overcast but bright’ days that we UK anglers are so often faced with. This makes these the ideal carp fishing sunglasses, as they increase colour saturation and contrast as well as reducing glare. This makes spotting the dark shape of a carp a dream rather than a chore and you’ll have your peers on the bank clamouring to know your secret. The second lens is the ultimate all-purpose option. Suitable for a weekend in the city as well as a weekend on the bank, these grey lenses keep contrast and saturation at a natural level – eliminating glare and UV for increase clarity of vision. The final lens option is silver. These lenses share the same base properties as the copper option. However, they are geared up for brighter light and they are the ultimate summer time lenses.
