Daiwa Emcast Surf
There was a time when the UK’s sea fishing anglers would struggle away on the shore with a standard length rod. However, in recent years the trend for surf casting with a super-length rod has grown increasingly popular and, with rods like the Emcast Surf, it’s not hard to see why. Giving you the ability to cast fantastic distances and enabling you to reach the points way beyond the surf where all manner of saltwater species dwell, longer surf casting rods make life on the beach that little bit easier.
The Daiwa Emcast Surf is available in three exceptional lengths. The shortest of the series is a tame 13ft. Perfect for the traditionalist who doesn’t want to quite let go of the past and ideal for the angler who wants a multipurpose distance casting tool, this rod will let you hit most of the spots you want with little effort. The middle length rod in the range comes in at a handy 14ft. This extra length enables you to reach out further than other anglers on the beach and, when paired with a distance casting reel you can comfortably achieve all the areas you desire with relative ease. The final rod in the range comes in at a whopping 15ft. This ensures that you can chuck 4oz to 8ozs as far as you like and it really is a rod made for the angler who loves distance. Since the rod is so long Daiwa has coated the joints in grip paint. This helps to maintain the structural integrity of the rod when you receive an aggressive take at distance.
As you might expect from such a long rod, the butt section of the Emcast Surf is exceptionally powerful and it is married with a responsive tip. This gives you the ability to capitalise on any take – whether it requires delicacy or a big fight to pull it to shore.
