Daiwa is a brand which is committed to high-performance tackle. Established in the mid-1950s, the brand has diversified over the years to produce a whole range of angling items, from top class rods right through to small terminal tackle items which operate at the business end of your setup. However, the brand began life as a high-end reel manufacturer and it is the manufacture of reels which continues to be its bread and butter. Its Ninja series revolutionised the angling world when it first hit the scene, and the range of reels quickly became iconic. Not only did their blood red spools make them stand out from the all-black reels on the market, but they also had a performance quality to back up their striking looks. Now, the brand has revamped the iconic series with a range of new Ninjas, designed to outclass their predecessors in terms of build quality, design, and technology. Ninja reels don’t get better than this…
The Daiwa Ninja Match and Feeder Reels have, as the name suggests, been designed with match and feeder fishing in mind. There are five models available in this new range, in order to ensure that you always have the ideal tool for the job at hand. Whether you’re casting out regularly during an intensive match fishing scenario, or you’re focused on feeder fishing with accuracy, the Ninja Match and Feeder can cope with it all. The smallest reel in the range is the 2508. This is ideal for a range of match fishing applications, including waggler and float fishing, as it offers you the kind of sensitive responsiveness that you need for this style of angling. This also comes in a double handled version, the 2508DA, for those anglers who prefer a dual handled reel. In the middle of the pack you’ll find the 3012. This is the intermediate reel in the range and it allows you to target a whole range of scenarios with confidence across your match and feeder fishing exploits. The 3012 also comes with a double handle option (the 3012D). Finally, the last reel in the range is the 4012. Only available with a single handle, this reel is the heavy duty performer in the pack and it is best suited to chucking out your larger loaded feeders.
All of the reels in the range have been designed with a plethora of high-end Daiwa technologies. This includes the likes of Air Rotor; a magnesium alloy rotor system which is not only significantly lighter than aluminium but has also been designed to reduce stress and friction on key points in the rotor cycle – preserving the reel’s performance throughout its life. This, combined with the graphite body, aids the reel’s performance under load, too. Digigear II is Daiwa’s high-performance gear system which ensures the perfect mesh of gears with each handle rotation. This improves the reel's pulling power, as it allows you to maximise your efforts on the bank. It also reduces unnecessary and premature wear and tear on the reel, making the Ninja an investment that will last. Twistbuster II is a line roller system which, as the name suggests, has been designed to eliminate roll or twist on the line. Not only does this aid the line lay on the spool,it also improves the power on the cast – reducing the risk of tangles which could jeopardise your time on the bank. The reels all come with infinite anti-reverse and four ball bearings as standard, for improved winding smoothness. The reels all boast a geared-down retrieve, to assist winding power. The Daiwa Ninja Match and Feeder Reels are front drag, making them ideal for use with braid, and all are supplied with a full spec spare spool.
