Daiwa Prorex Spinning Reel
If you’re a dedicated predator angler, you’ll know what you need from a spinning reel. You’ll want the power you crank into it to be transferred faithfully into control of the line, you’ll want it to have strength but be as light as possible, and you’ll probably want a reel able to work with braided lines without fuss. You don’t want much, do you?
Luckily, the Daiwa Prorex range of predator angling tackle presents a wide range of gear to suit just about any situation that your pursuit of pike, zander, or perch throws at you. The Daiwa Prorex Spinning Reel brings together many of the exclusive features found across the Prorex range of reels in a smart-looking package that works hard. When you’re searching for monsters in wild waters, this reel will help you bring them in.
The Prorex Spinning Reel’s body is made according to the Daiwa HardBodyZ concept – a specialist lightweight aluminium alloy is precision-engineered for distortion-free strength and durability in order to house Digigear II gearing. Daiwa’s Digigear parts are cut with very high tolerances to produce an efficient mechanism that retains its feel for many years. As a result, input power is transmitted faithfully and a minimal level of internal resistance produces a remarkably smooth action. Daiwa’s ongoing efforts to reduce weight, coupled with the necessity of high strength materials, is also evident in the inclusion of an ABS II aluminium spool.
Fighting predator fish needs reliable drag that is smooth right from the start. This reel’s ATD system provides exceptional spool support to reduce twist, meaning maximum pressure is channelled to the all-weather carbon fibre drag disks at the instant it’s required. A new rotor design helps to better distribute those internal forces as well as weighing 15% less than conventional rotor configurations.
For all the benefits of braided line when predator angling, effective line management is required to get the best out of it and this Prorex spin reel is not found wanting. A Twist Buster II line roller minimises twist and keeps friction between it and the line at a minimum. The inclusion of Infinite Anti-reverse solves a weakness encountered in many reels – backplay on the handle is virtually eliminated, making slap-back of the handle and the release of slack lines problems of the past. Daiwa’s exclusive Crosswrap line lay system avoids line dig, increases pick-up, and pushes casting distances farther out by ‘cross wrapping’ the line on the spool when bringing it back in. A hollow stainless steel line bail with a protrusion-free design brings loose line back down onto the roller without snagging, completing a collection of thoughtful design elements which keep your lines tight.
The Daiwa Prorex Spinning Reel comes in two variants:
The PX3020PEA model has a 200m capacity for braided line on a semi-shallow spool and the PX2500RA model combines a 3000-sized body with a 2500-sized spool, which results in up to 40% more retrieving power than many other 2500-sized reels, thanks to the larger gearing.
An effective addition to your collection of predator fishing tackle, the Daiwa Prorex Spinning Reel has a reasonable price for so much ability and it looks good, too. Why not consider stocking up on some new lures to go with it? Happy hunting…
