Description

Gunki is a Dutch tackle tackle brand founded in 2008 by Carl Visser. Gunki are specialists in the predator discipline, producing high end rods and reels alongside staple tackle items such as lures and leads. The lime green Gunki logo on a black background has become iconic within the predator discipline and this same design is regularly used throughout the Gunki range for continuity.

The Gunki Iron T-S Chooten  rod is an exceptional top of the range rod, built with high performance Toray Japanese carbon sheets, the T-S Chooten rod is extraordinarily well balanced. This is thanks in part to the low-density resin associated with Toray carbon.

The Chooten rod is designed to be extremely sensitive and is sold in a fast and extra fast action, with the extra fast model being 15cm longer. With this in mind, the taper of the blank has been redesigned to maximise precision and sensitivity, the Fuji reel seat and K rings feature carbon inserts that will amplify vibrations within the blank, enabling you to get a better read of what is happening at the business end of your rig, whether it’s a fish or a snag on the bottom.

Gunki rods have a unique handle, something that has become characteristic of Gunki rods, this design is used to optimise different techniques, allowing you to be ultra-precise with your casts. Lower down the rod, the butt section has been reinforced with carbon braid, this adds power in the handle, something Gunki terms ‘reserve power’, assisting you with fighting larger specimen pike.

If you’re a predator angler, you can’t do much better than Gunki, its Iron range is a cut above most rods, it is the ultimate bankside tool to put you in control of your fishing. The T-S Chooten rod informs you what is happening beneath the surface due to its incredible sensitivity and could well be the difference between catching a new PB and blanking.
