Catch Experience Catch Experience

Anglers target ide for both pleasure fishing and match fishing. They make great weight builders, and they are fun to catch as they feed well in the winter, but tend to be ferocious feeders in the summer. The shoal in your peg will keep the action going, enabling you to quickly build up a lot of weight. Ide can be greedy, so you can hook them deep so you may require a disgorger, make sure to keep one on hand. If where you are fishing there are a large population of ide, they may not be that easy to catch, as they don’t just feed at one or two levels in the water. This makes them a challenge to catch in addition to ide being shy bitters but also feisty scrappers that often result in hook-pulls. In general, Ide aren't sensitive fish, but they should be handled with care. It is important to use a landing net that is as large as the fish you intend to catch. Lift the fish out of the water and place it on an unhooking mat that is at least the size of the fish.
