Pike or the ‘Northern pike’ are a large predator fish that is known for its largemouth full of sharp teeth. Found across Europe during the colder months, Pike will lurk among the vegetation of a river or lake before surging out with fierce speed to catch its prey. With large yellow eyes, a flattened snout and a long, torpedo-shaped body, pike are built for fast acceleration and hiding with its olive and cream colouration creating a great camouflages.
As a predator, this fish can swim extremely fast in order to attach and catch prey fish, in fact, some northern pike have been recorded to swim up to 10 miles per hour.
