Product Description

Trakker Tempest XL Skull Cap

If you’re a proud owner of the Trakker Tempest XL Bivvy System then it is more than likely that you have been one of the anglers crying out and asking the Trakker team to bring out a storm peak for the system. Trakker is proud to be a company that listens to the anglers on the bank and your comments have directly influenced the production of this Trakker Tempest XL Skull Cap.

As the name suggests, the Skull Cap has been designed to be attached to the roof of your bivvy. This creates the effect of a second skin over the top of the bivvy, as well as providing the Tempest XL with its much needed storm peak. It is exceptionally easy to attach to your bivvy and, once in place, it can be left on the bivvy permanently. This means that you don’t have to worry about reattaching it to your bivvy with each use, adding unwanted additional set up time on the bank. Instead, after the initial installation, you can leave the Skull Cap in place for future use.

To install your Skull Cap, first, take your bivvy out of your bivvy bag. Prior to erection, you need to attach the cap clips to the poles of your bivvy. This can be done by separating each pole slightly, to reveal the joining elastic, and then sliding the clip over this elastic and up onto the female section of the pole. You can then screw in the system using the supplied Allen key. Once you have all five clips in place you can then erect your Tempest XL Bivvy as you normally would. Next, you need to locate the three spigots on the Skull Cap and insert these into the storm holes at the front of the bivvy. It is recommended that you then attach the rear of the cap first, pulling the Velcro straps so they are half tightened to ensure that you can attach each with ease. Once you have attached each strap, you can then completely tension the system by fully tightening the Velcro.

This Skull Cap is perfect for use year round, so you never need to worry about removing it from your bivvy. The cavity it forms over the top of roof is identical to the cavity that forms when you use an overwrap and this Skull Cap provides you with many of the benefits of an overwrap but without the bulk. This means that, in the winter months, it will trap warm air inside the bivvy better and it practically eliminates any chance of condensation forming on the inside of your bivvy. If you’re someone who is fed up with consistently being awoken by annoying drips in the night then this is the perfect solution for you. Conversely, in the summer months, the cavity created by the Skull Cap makes it more difficult for the sun’s rays to penetrate through the bivvy. This means that your bivvy is kept at a more comfortable temperature for longer.

The storm peak on the Skull Cap provides you with a shaded porch area. This is ideal when you’ve got the rods out in the middle of the day, as ensures that you can sit in the shade of your bivvy watching the lake for any indication of activity. In the winter, this storm peak helps to keep the rain off the door of the bivvy. It has also been fitted with a rain gutter, which directs the water safely off the sides of the bivvy, too. There are two rod straps on either side of the storm peak, too, ensuring that you have somewhere safe to stow your carp rods whilst you’re making adjustments to your terminal tackle setup. As you might expect, the Trakker Tempest XL Skull Cap is manufactured from Trakker’s high tech Aquatexx material – ensuring this is every bit as waterproof as your bivvy.
