Mag Sealing is an innovative waterproofing concept first used by the team at NASA when they were looking for a way to transport fuel into space. At its basics, Mag Sealing is the process of magnetising oil to create the perfect friction-free seal. The team at NASA used this technology as a way of keeping fluid in a container under high pressure. The Daiwa team has used this technology as a way of keeping water (and all the particles of grit that come with it) out of the reel. This has the benefit of ensuring that the reel operates smoother for longer, as by keeping grit and salt out of the body of the reel you are removing the possibility of premature corrosion due to grit wearing on the integral moving components of the reel. The Daiwa 15 Exist is an exceptionally lightweight reel, meaning it will balance beautifully on any high quality spinning rod. This light weight is thanks to the Zaion material used in the construction of the reel body and rotor. Zaion is an ultra-dense carbon strain material that is not only 20% stronger than nylon ABS but also 50% lighter than aluminium.
