Daiwa Infinity SP (Slim Power) Carp Rod
When the design team at Daiwa were constructing its inimitable Infinity rod series they faced a serious dilemma fairly early on in testing. As always, the Daiwa team had designed the rods with various different blank styles – expecting on style to outperform the others across the board in initial testing as had happened time and time again. However, the Infinity rods performed outstandingly with two different tapers – the Magnum Taper and the Slim Power taper. This left the Daiwa team in a temporary quandary until they realised the obvious answer was staring them in the face: design two rod styles in the series to complement two different styles of carp fishing! This is exactly what the team have done and this rod is the SP version in the Infinity series.
The Infinity SP has been designed to offer a steady through action. This is perfect for close range carping, especially when you’re fishing with a braided mainline. However, this isn’t all the rod can offer and the Infinity SP is also excellent at delivering distance casts when you need it to. In fact, the 3.5lb version of the rod will happily place baits well over 150yards. This is a very well balanced rod series, thanks in part to the super low resin carbon sheet that has been placed through the top section of the rod. The main black material is a high volume carbon fibre. This HVF ensures that the rod is able to offer fantastic torque control – giving it a greater ability to build power in key compression points without wearing the blank. Not only this but since this rod has a slimmer butt than the MT version of the Infinity, this HVF construction greatly assists with the uplift when loading and unloading the rod. As with all the Infinity rods, this Infinity SP has been finished with black alconite Fuji K guides, a Fuji DPS reel seat, and glossy black cosmetics to match.
