Daiwa designed the Windcast range to be fast casting performers that can hit the long distances that carp anglers require from their kit. In the years since their release these Windcast X reels have proven themselves to be incredibly popular among the carp fishing community and they have excellent applications across a broad variety of angling styles. In three different sizes, all the reels in this range feature the same tapered spool. This spool not only holds a generous amount of line, ideal for long distance specimen fishing, but it also allows for high speed line release, enabling you to make long distance casts with ease.

The Windcast X features Daiwa’s incredible Quick Drag (QD) technology. This enables you to switch between freespool and fight mode with incredible speed and ease – perfect for when you’re playing those hard fighting big fish. This isn’t the only world-class Daiwa technology at play on this reel, however. Air Bail is a tubular system that ensures snag-free line retrieve, even when you’re faced with loose line left over from distance casts. The HIP line allows you to cast on the button every time, safe in the knowledge that you’re line is secured safely. Digigear is Daiwa’s digital; gearing system that ensure a perfect mesh between the rotors each time. Not only does this give you more cranking power per turn but it also significantly reduces premature wear and tear on the reel. With five ball bearings this reel is a smooth performer, and the Twistbuster line roller is powered by its very own CRBB. Twistbuster does what it says on the tin works to counteract line twist, which is particularly useful for those aggressive distance casts.

The X5000 size holds 370m of 15lb line, the X5500 holds 440m of 15lb line, and the X5000LD holds a whopping 530m of 15lb line – even the most determined of carp won’t run you out of line with any of these reels!
