Drennan S7 XL Universal Cupping Top 2, Series 7 XL Universal Top Kits are each 2.5m long with a wider diameter than the standard Universal Kits. They should fit larger diameter poles with very little cutting back. There are three styles: XL Silverfish Top 2, XL Carp Top 2 and XL Cupping Top 2. Each weighs just 58g on average and the internal joint of the female No2 section is 22mm. A 45cm reinforced section allows the female ferrule to be cut back to fit a wide range of poles. A fitted screw-thread adaptor takes Polemaster pole pots. Nose Cones The male joint of the No2 sections on Series 7 Top 2s are fitted with an elastic protector nose cone. This small foam rubber cone is specially shaped to centralise the elastic and keep it away from the edge of the carbon tube. This effectively prevents damage to the elastic when a Top 2 is folded in half for transportation. Trimming Sections The bottom 40cm of the No2 section is reinforced with an extra carbon overwrap. This makes it easier and safer to cut back the female ferrule to fit a wide range of poles. We recommend using a fine-tooth junior hacksaw and carefully scoring the blank all the war around before actually cutting right through. With this method there is much less chance of splitting or fracturing the carbon tube. A very fine O-grade emery cloth can be used to clean up and smooth the cut edge. Even when cut back, the extra-long reinforced area should still leave you with a strong, durable section to hold when playing and landing big fish.
