ESP Terry Hearn Rod

When you’re thinking of carp fishing legends, chances are Terry Hearn will be right at the top of your list. The man is a true angling great and he’s caught nearly every big name fish in the book – including the infamous Parrot. He is also the man behind the E.S.P brand name as, when he was talking to a member of the E.S.P team, he commented that he must have some kind of ‘extra sensory perception’ for huge carp. The name stuck and Terry has remained a major consultant for the brand ever since. In recent years, Terry has turned his hand to product design with the brand, helping the team to perfect their hook patterns and terminal tackle, and it was never going to be long before he got to work on his very own range of rods.

These ESP Terry Hearn Carp Rods have not only been designed by the great man but he himself has put them through his most rigorous of tests in order to ensure that they live up to their legacy. The original Mk1 and Mk2 rods, which Terry designed with the brand, became cult classics and these brand new Terry Hearn Carp Rods look set to be no different. There are two different models in the current range. The first of these is known as the Terry Hearn Classic. This is a 12ft 9 inch rod with a 40mm butt guide, which has been designed as the ultimate all-round performance piece for the dedicated carp angler. This rod offers a test curve of 3.25lbs, which is somewhat stepped up from a traditional carp rod of this length in order to reflect the kind of ultra-large fish that Terry likes to target.

The second rod in the range is the Terry Hearn Distance. This is a high powered rod which, as the name suggests, has been designed with distance casting in mind. It is the same 12ft 9 inches in length, but this time the rod has been fitted with a 50mm butt ring. This allows you to cast those extra feet without giving you any extra rod to negotiate with on the bank, enabling you to hit those distance features with confidence. The Distance rod is available in two different test curve options. The first of these is the 3.25lb, which offers the same kind of performance backbone as the Classic model with all the benefits of reach that the 50mm butt ring provides. The second model offers a 3.5lb curve. This gives you that extra backbone that you’ll require when you’re pulling in a huge double figure carp, whether you’re fishing in the UK or over on the continent.

Both the Classic and the Distance have been manufactured with the very latest high modulus carbon cloth technology. This keeps the weight of the rod low whilst retaining its amazing strength, allowing you to targeting big fish with confidence. It also gives the rod an unbelievable rigidity, for unbeatable bite registration and an amazing fish playing responsiveness. Both rods have been reinforced with a woven overwrap, ensuring that this rod is outstandingly tough and durable.

The ESP Terry Hearn Rods have both been fitted with SiC line guides and an ESD line clip. This ensures that your carp fishing line is perfectly protected at all times. The rods are fitted with Fuji DPS Reel Seats and all the rods are finsihed with a full length EVA handle, ensuring that you benefit from outstanding grip when you’re bringing in a large and hard fighting carp. If you’re looking for a high powered, carp fighting machine, you canot go wrong with these ESP Terry Hearn Rods.
