aka Abramis brama
Often called Skimmers when small, common bream are a member of the carp family and can be similar to chub and rudd. Can be seen gathering in large shoals in lowland ponds, lakes and slow-flowing rivers, the common bream is widespread in southern England, France and throughout central Europe. Commons deep-bodied fish with a high back and flattened sides. It tends to be dark brown /greyish on the back and bronze elsewhere and covered in slime.
Anglers will be able to catch abundant bream in heavily polluted waters given the bream's insensitivity to water pollution. Where others will migrate, this fish will remain.
