Product Description

Trakker Tempest Composite Skull Cap

Trakker bivvies and shelters are among the most popular on the bankside because of their high quality of manufacture and innovation of design. The Trakker Tempest Composite Bivvy is one such shelter and it is loved by anglers for its versatile use and low weight. Ever since its release, anglers have been begging Trakker to design a Tempest Composite with a storm peak. The brand has come up with the perfect solution – the Tempest Composite Skull Cap. As the name suggests, this Skull Cap sits over the top of the bivvy, providing it with a storm peak and an additional skin – making it the ideal solution to the Tempest’s storm peak problem.

This Skull Cap is exceptionally easy to install. All you need to do is remove your Trakker Tempest Composite from its bivvy bag and to lay it out like normal. Before you connect up the poles, simply slip the Skull Cap clips over the elastics, which run through the poles, and attach them over the female end of the poles before erecting your bivvy as normal. Then, all you need to do if find the three spigots on the Skull Cap and attach them into the relevant slots in the front of your bivvy. This will give you the storm peak structure that you have been so desperately in need of. To finish attaching the Skull Cap, first attach the rear Velcro strap before moving around to attach the rest to their clips. It is recommended that you attach each loosely to begin with, before tensioning and tightening to your required level.

This might sound like a lot of work at first and Trakker admits it will take you a little time on the bank the first time you use it. However, this is time well spent as, once erected, you need never remove the Skull Cap from your system! Simply leave it attached when you pack down at the end of your session and it will be ready to use the next time you head to the water’s edge. What’s more, since the Skull Cap has benefits year round, it will always be enhancing your angling experience.

The most obvious benefits of the Trakker Tempest Skull Cap are those that you experience in the winter. First things first, the storm peak ensures that the rain is prevented from falling directly onto your door. Your door is always the weakest point of your bivvy (due to its array of zippers) and if you’re going to experience any wet weather incursion when you’re using the Tempest Composite it is likely to come through the door of the bivvy. This storm peak significantly reduces the risk of any wet weather incursion and it has been fitted with a rain gutter to allow the rain to be safely directed down the sides of the bivvy, ensuring that you don’t experience any annoying water run-off over the front of the system.

The Trakker Tempest Composite Skull Cap also significantly reduces condensation inside the bivvy. This is because it creates a cavity of air between the outer-skin of the bivvy and the Skull Cap, which helps to insulate the bivvy. If you’re someone who is fed up of experiencing cold drips in the night as you lay on your bedchair but you don’t want to invest in the bulk of an overwrap then the Trakker Tempest Composite Skull Cap is the perfect solution for you.

This Skull Cap also has a range of benefits in the summer. Firstly, the same cavity of air that insulates the bivvy in the winter also works to keep the bivvy cool in the summer, by creating an additional layer of air which needs to be warmed before the heat of the sun can enter your bivvy. The storm peak also provides outstanding protection from the worst of the sun’s rays and it is ideal on those days when you’re in an exposed swim with your rods out. Simply set up your day chair in the doorway of your bivvy and you can sit perfectly protected from the sun whilst keeping an eye out on your carp rods. With dual rod straps, you can make any adjustments to your terminal tackle setup, too, without worrying that your gear is going to get damaged by an unexpected breeze.
