The Daiwa AG reels have been designed with three basic features in mind: size, functionality, and rugged reliability. They succeed on every count and offer a huge amount of performance potential for all number of distance uses across the sport – especially for those anglers who like carp fishing on the biggest lakes that the UK has to offer.
To provide this incredible casting distance, Daiwa has fitted this reel range with ABS aluminium spools. ABS is Daiwa’s patented anti-backlash system, which ensures that you’re able to cast your hardest and farthest with full confidence that you won’t experience that finds of bird’s nest tangles that plague other reels’ performance. This huge distance casting potential is supported by an equally massive cranking power. The bigger of the AG reels, the 6000, boasts a truly remarkable retrieve rate of 111cm of line per handle turn. This is thanks to the 4.6:1 gearing, which allows for a huge amount of torque-building power conversion with each rotation of the handle. The 5000 reel offers an equally impressive sub-five ratio that allows it to pull in a highly respectable amount of line.
The Daiwa AG both feature Daiwa’s patented Twistbuster technology. Twistbuster is Daiwa’s line roller system that almost eliminates line twist on the roller. This not only preserves the life of the roller but maintains the high performance of the line. Both reels offer huge line capacity of high-break stain line (220 m of 20lb line on the 5000, 230m of 25lb on the 6000). This ensures that you have more than enough line to target all the features you require on the UK’s most impressive venues.
Weighing only 408g and 610g (5000 and 6000 respectively), these reels will balance perfectly on any carp rod you choose.
