Daiwa Prorex Baitcaster Rod
This is the Daiwa Prorex Baitcaster Rod, part of Daiwa’s predator fishing tackle range which has been designed specifically to engage predator species such as pike, zander, and perch. It’s part of Daiwa’s continuing mission to produce innovative and accessible fishing tackle for the global angling community. By bringing together high-tech features with thoughtful classic design elements, this rod meets the needs of lure angling methods with power and sensitivity.
If you target bigger fish with larger patterns, this rod can get you there by means of its HVF X45 carbon blanks. These use carbon fibres that have a greater volume than is usual, to improve overall structural integrity. These fibres are arranged in three ways around the axis of the rod, including one that is set at 45°, to reduce twisting in the service of improved casting accuracy and a smooth bending curve. This curve is also helped by a slimline V-Joint connection between the spigot and the blank, which promotes a better distribution of forces while being very strong and lightweight.
The included Fuji reel seat is arranged in such a way that two fingers can stay in direct contact with the blank at all times. This direct touch promotes a better feel and understanding of what happens below the water’s surface, maximising your chances of converting a fish’s interest into confident hooksets. Daiwa state that this rod is ideal for the underarm Scandinavian and Spey-type casting methods, and the comfortable-looking configuration of the cork handle certainly has the form for it.
Hard-wearing titanium oxide inserts in the line guides are included, allowing you to work with a range of lines including the braided lines often employed in predator angling. This can create extra wear on components such as guides, when compared to other kinds of line. The two-section Prorex Baitcaster Rod should keep casting smoothly for many trips to come and different models are available with a good range of specifications, according to your need:
PX762HFB-AS: a light ‘downsizer’ rod for pike - Length: 7ft 6in
PX802XHFB-AS: a lightweight and stiff rod for bigger jerks and shads up to 120g, applicable to many predator angling contexts - Length: 8ft
PX692XXHFB-AS: a slightly longer jerk stick that easily casts lures up to 150g without being too stiff and works well as a shorter rod for shads - Length: 6ft 9in
PX862XXHFB-AS: a slightly longer and stiffer version of the 802XHFB, for use with the largest shads in your box - Length: 8ft 6in
PX742MFB-AS: a very fast-action rod for perch, influenced by the popular Daiwa Tatula rods but in a slightly longer format - Length: 7ft 4in
It doesn’t matter if you’re only just starting out in predator fishing or if you’re experienced but looking for a low-cost and lightweight rod for keeping on the move during your quest, the Daiwa Prorex Baitcaster Rod is certainly worth a closer look. With an excellent price point and over fifty years of Daiwa’s Japanese design and manufacturing expertise behind it, there a good chance that you are looking at your next new rod. Why not consider matching it with a predator reel from the Daiwa Prorex range? They have complimenting design features as well as a great-looking finish.
