Since 1999, The ESP brand has been enjoyed by an avid following of anglers. Prior to the ESP brand name launched, the company had several different names that were kicked around, but it was actually an off the cuff remark from Terry Hearn, a long-time consultant for the brand, which inspired the final name. The initials literally stand for Extra Sensory Perception – or ‘sixth sense’. ESP specializes in carp fishing and is best known for its feeder fishing innovations, but the range includes everything a carp angler's heart desires from rigs to rods.
Olive green blank The olive green blanks blend in nicely to other features whilst keeps to the muted tones of the carp angling armour. The rod comes with an E-S-P line clip and has full SiC guides throughout, supporting your line to the highest standard.
Available in 8ft length with a 2.75lb test curve, 9ft length with a 2.75lb test curve or the 10ft length with a 3lb test curve, the Stalker rod from ESP is designed specifically for close range stalking and those tight swims under trees, bushes and bankside cover which are so productive with potential catches. The variation in length depends on how far you are casting and the choice of test curve will impact the flexibility of the performance of the rod. All three options are made of lightweight blanks that are designed specifically for stalking at close quarters and short range fishing, especially suited to the travel light, mobile angler.
The Stalker rods are powerful enough for hit and hold situations and to bully fish away from snags, making sure you land the possibly new PB. This strength does not restrict the response of the rods as ESP stalkers have enough balanced flexibility to act as the perfect shock absorber and help avoid hook pulls on a short line.
The Stalker includes a DPS-18 reel seat on the lower blank. The DPS has carbon fittings with stainless steel hoods, making it strong, light and reliable so you can attach your reel with ease. To add to the comfort when casting, the Stalker also features a full-length EVA handle, providing long-lasting, easy to clean handle that will stay intact to your rod without denting or chipping like many cork handles do.
If you are looking for a new rod to catch from carp, consider the Stalker from ESP.
