Shimano Sahara DH RD Reel

Shimano, established in 1921, is a Japanese based company with strong environmental ethics whilst producing some of the finest fishing reels with the latest technological advancements. The Sahara RD is the mid-level rear drag model from Shimano with a look and feels that underlines the Shimano quality.

The Sahara RD is a versatile reel that can be used for many freshwater angling purposes, whether it is lure fishing for pike or match fishing for bream. The reel has an XT-7 body material and a spool manufactures from cold-forged aluminium.

DH stands for the double handle and RD is for Rear Drag. Unlike many reels on the market today that have drag control on top of the spool, Shimano have placed this control at the back of the reel which is closer to the handle and for many anglers, a much more convenient placing of the drag system, especially for when playing fish.

As well as these differences to the usual reel design, the Shimano Sahara DH RD Reel features three shielded stainless steel ball bearings and a roller bearing. This offers series power in the gears and the Sahara utilises a multi-disk rear drag system for smooth progressive performance.

The Cold Forged Aluminium Spool sports an AR-C line management which is suitable for both mono and braid lines. This also offers Varispeed line lay which prevents fine mono and braid bedding in under pressure.

This double handle version really helps get the most out of the retrieval with a better balance, smoother feel. The reel is nicely finished with a visually stunning metallic platinum and gold which is certain to catch the eye of the fellow angler at the bankside.
