Shimano’s Technium Tournament Carp Mainline has been designed with all the precision accuracy of the other lines in the Technium range. All the Technium lines boast a unique three layer structure which ensures that the line is low stretch, high strength, and low memory.

The inner core of this line is made from super dense material that has virtually no stretch. This is the element of the line that halves the overall stretch of the line. Normal monofilaments have an average stretch of 25% - a staggering quarter line length increase! As you can imagine this significantly shortens the lifespan of the line, as well as reducing its effectiveness. The Technium Tournament Carp Mainline has a total average stretch of 12%, increasing the life of the line and ensuring its continued reliability throughout its lifespan. This inner core is also the area of the line that gives it its weight and ensures it sinks quickly to the bed of the lake.

The middle layer of line is the layer that gives the line its suppleness. Having a supple line is essential as it allows the line to tightly hug the contours of the lake bed. This is exceptionally important in slack line carp fishing, as it ensures that that carp are not scared away by the line running through the water down to the bait. It also keeps the line out of the way of any water birds, who could disturb your line or, even worse, get tangled in it.

The final layer of the line gives the line its UV resistance. Super thin, this coating does wonders to extend the lifespan of the line. Ultra-Violet rays from the sun can not only bleach the line but also weaken and degrade the integral structure of the line. This UV resistant final coating is essential and also gives the line its high abrasion resistance, ensuring your line lasts at peak performance for as long as possible.
